My Background

I have a B.A. in English, an A.S. in health studies, and an A.S. in nursing.  I recently earned my bachelor's degree in nursing.  I became a Lamaze-Certified Childbirth Educator in 2015 and have been a member of Lamaze International since.

I married my college sweetheart, and we have two children (a seven-year-old and a four-year-old).  The birth of my eldest drove me to become an advocate for mothers and children (and their families).

The Name

One reason for the name stems from the idea that no two snowflakes are the same.  This is actually not true, but seashells and snowflakes have shapes and patterns that still appear quite unique.  When comparing one person to another, it is easy to find similarities and differences like any two snowflakes or shells.  I found this out very quickly with my two children who are both very similar yet had/have different needs, expressions, preferences, et cetera.

Another reason for the name is because I grew up on Long Island (where I have so often seen snow cover the beaches), and I lived in Los Angeles for four years.  The name connects the two coasts I call home.
